About Us

Our Founder

Atom Physics was founded by Adam Evearitt, MS, DABR.  He began his career in medical radiation as a way to combine his love of physics and math with his love of helping and making a difference for people.  Although he already had a bachelor’s degree in physics and math, at the age of 32, he decided to focus on a new path, got his master’s degree in medical physics and in 2008, became a fully board-certified medical physicist.

Adam has direct, applicable education and credentials in x-ray technology and service.  He has an associate’s degree in radiography, a bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics and a master’s degree in radiological physics. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology as a medical physicist.

Co-owner, Pam Arroway has been with Atom Physics since 2017, first working as an x-ray repair tech and now managing the x-ray division of the business.

Core Values

Atom Physics priority is to always do things the right way even when it might not be to our advantage in the short term. We have discovered that being honest, competent and customer-focused pays off in the long run, and we are very proud that our business has found success on this very solid footing.

Our Origin Story

Adam began his career in medicine as a transporter for the radiology department at a hospital.  He became certified as an x-ray tech, and went on to train x-ray techs, including developing curriculum to start a new program. This background in x-ray is pretty unusual for a medical physicist and lead to the creation of Atom Physics.

When Adam first began working as a medical physicist, part of his job was to inspect x-ray machines in Colorado.  Like many states, Colorado requires that x-ray machines be inspected periodically by a qualified inspector.  Once he was added to the list of qualified inspectors in Colorado, he started getting calls from practices and facilities that needed their x-ray machines inspected (dental, veterinary, chiropractic offices, etc…). As the years went by, he got busier and busier, and by then he was doing inspections 2-3 times a week and sometimes taking a day off once a month from his hospital job to fit in more inspections. This led him to creating his first website in 2011 marketing his services for x-ray machine inspections.

Eventually he had so much business for inspections that Adam hired his first employee. Over time, he started getting asked questions about upgrades to machines or repair work, or who to contact to buy a new x-ray machine. He realized that it was time for his small side job to become a real business.  So, in 2017, Pam Arroway joined Atom Physics and helped take a small inspection/consulting business to the next level.

Since 2017, Atom Physics has grown into a wonderful small business with offices and a warehouse in Broomfield, CO.  We have a dedicated group of employees to service all x-ray equipment needs in Colorado and nationally. We strive to be honest and hardworking and really believe that our success has come from doing things the right way.

From Adam’s humble roots wheeling patients in stretchers down the hospital hallways, he has held nearly every single job that involves x-ray machines. He knows what works and what doesn’t and what really makes a difference.  All of Atom Physics’ employees are trained to his standards so you know that no matter who you are interacting with at Atom Physics, they will provide the highest quality of service.

Atom Physics is Unique

We are one of the only x-ray equipment companies (maybe THE only one) that is owned and run by a medical physicist. That means we can do absolutely everything from beginning to end with an x-ray machine. We can do the physics shielding report (where and how much lead goes in the walls), sell the machine, install the machine, inspect the machine, and provide all the ongoing support, maintenance, repair, and peripheral needs, like dosimetry badges, for the staff. We also provide consultation in radiation safety.

Installing a new (or new to you) x-ray machine? Moving an existing machine to a new office? At Atom Physics, we can prepare a shielding design (sometimes called shielding report or physics report) that specifies where and how much radiation shielding is needed. We can also advise you on choice of room and orientation for your x-ray system. While we do not do actual room construction, we do stock lead, leaded drywall, and leaded glass.  We can advise your contractor about how to install these materials and how to minimize costs when doing so.

We have completed hundreds of shielding designs for new offices, moves, and upgrades around the country each year. We are registered in all 50 states, and we have become experts in state regulations and the differences between them. In fact, other vendors routinely call us to answer their questions about state regulations and compliance.

We are committed to meeting your shielding requirements in the most cost-effective manner possible.

Atom Physics is a leading provider of x-ray equipment, sales, service and inspections. We can help you with everything from a digital upgrade to a full x-ray room.  We sell products from several different suppliers so we can offer you the best equipment, software, and services. We pride ourselves on customized recommendations for equipment that is the best fit for your practice or facility.

We have solutions for medical clinics, chiropractic offices, veterinary practices, dental offices, security operations and more.

We are happy to offer a line-by-line comparison to any other quotes you have.  X-ray equipment is an investment, and we want to help you get it right.  Many national companies leave out essential services like installation or shipping from their quotes, making it difficult to compare estimates from different companies. Atom Physics provides complete turn-key quotes so there are no surprise costs down the line.

Atom Physics is located in Colorado. We’ve made our mark providing repair services in the Front Range and throughout Colorado. We also provide installation, move, and repair services nationally. We have expertise in solving software issues and fixing hardware failures with your x-ray equipment. Whenever possible, we offer remote support at a lower rate than our on-site repairs. Whether your system was manufactured in 1985 or this year, Atom Physics can help. We have experience repairing general x-ray machines, chiropractic systems, vet tables, C-arms, dental units and security scanners. Serving medical clinics, chiropractors, veterinarians, dentists, and facilities with baggage scanners since 2011.

In Colorado, x-ray machines (including DEXA, fluoroscopy, and analytical machines) need to be inspected regularly by a qualified inspector. Our inspectors ensure your equipment is compliant with all state regulations. We can also answer any questions you have about state regulations. So whether you have x-ray machines for medical, dental, veterinary, chiropractic, podiatric, industrial or security purposes, call us to get your inspection scheduled.

Atom Physics offers Instadose Plus dosimetry badges that communicate with your smart device allowing you to view radiation dose readings for all your staff. This eliminates the need to mail in dosimetry badges and wait for reports.  We provide staff-prepared quarterly reports and interpretation. Before sending out reports, Atom Physics reviews the readings to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary. This includes analysis based on both the experience of our own medical physicist and expected readings from various industries. These more convenient badges may cost you less than you’re paying now.

Atom Physics has registered medical physicists, qualified inspectors, qualified experts, and registered service engineers on staff. We provide a wide range of consulting services depending on your needs. Some of those include:

Annual Radiation Safety Reviews: In many states, it is mandatory for all facilities to undergo yearly radiation safety reviews. We offer resources and on-site training to facilitate this process.

Radiation Safety Officers: According to most state regulations, every facility must have a Radiation Safety Officer. If your company does not have an in-house radiation safety officer, we can contract to fulfill the position for your facility.

Radioactive Materials Licensing: We can assist with the preparation of license applications for facilities possessing radioactive materials.

Our owner and founder, Adam Evearitt, MS, DABR, loves speaking about science and especially about x-rays.  He is happy to come and speak to your staff or, if you are a teacher, to your students.  In his 1-hour, funny and insightful presentation, Adam, a board-certified medical physicist with 20 years of public speaking experience, will discuss ways to dispel your patients’ fear of getting their necessary x-rays or your staff members’ fear of accidental radiation exposure.
